Prof. Dr. Shawkat Ara Husain

Dr. Shawkat Ara Husain is a Professor of Political Science, University of Dhaka. She is a renowned social thinker and has contributed to many social organizations. Dr. Husain published many research papers and books on a wide spectrum of knowledge and issues. She is the Director of Center for Development Research, Bangladesh and also General Secretary of Women for Women, a feminist research & study group. She was the Chairperson of media committee in FEMA (Fair Election Monitoring Alliance). Dr. Shawkat Ara Husain has been working for women empowerment, gender issues, good governance and community awareness for almost three decades. She traveled to many countries in Asia, Europe and North America for study, professional conferences and seminars.

Sakhawat Khan
Executive Chairman

Sakhawat Khan did his Master’s with B.A (Honors) in English from University of Dhaka. He further did his Post-graduation in International Law of Forced Migration and Refugee Studies from Cairo, Egypt. He has wide range of training on project planning, conflict management, emergency logistics, capacity building and strengthening local governance. Mr. Sakhawat Khan has 15 years of professional experiences with various United Nations specialized agencies i.e. UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP and UN Peace Keeping Operations in Africa. Mr. Khan is a good civil society organizer. He has been regularly contributing to various national issues through Television Talk Shows and Roundtable Conferences at several Intellectuals and Think-tanks forums.

Zahidul Islam

Zahidul Islam is a Ph.D (Fellow) and continuing his research on quality of industrial potato under Department of Agronomy in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. He completed M.S degree on Agriculture Extension and Information system from the same and B.Sc (Ag) degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University in 1998. He has about 18 years experiences in the field of agriculture and development sectors. During this period he also completed Post Graduate Certificate Course on Seed Technology from Sher-E Bangla Agricultural University. He received Training of Trainers (TOT) on Sustainable Agriculture during the period for one month from International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), Philippines. Apart from these Zahidul Islam participated in various national, international workshops, seminars and symposium and received international training on various development issues. He has long working experiences with NGOs, GO-NGOs, Consulting organizations, Group of companies and other national & international organizations like UNDP, FAO, IRRI, USAID etc. His expertise’s on Sustainable development in the field of Ecological Agriculture, Integrated farm practice, Livelihood and Food security, Environment and Climate changes, HIV/AIDS, Child labor, Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Human rights and Good governance issues . He published various research papers in different national and international journals.

Md. Saidur Rahman
Secretary & Executive Director

Md. Saidur Rahman earned his Masters in History from University of Dhaka. He served in various capacities dealing with community based human rights and civil rights activities in collaboration with different national and international organizations. Saidur Rahman is one of the leading young advocates for the protection of civil rights and civil liberties. At present He is serving as Secretary General of Road Safety Foundation and Member Secretary of National Unity for Prevention of Road Accidents. Saidur Rahman is Editor of ‘Sorok Barta’ (A monthly magazine on road safety issues) He organized a series of roundtables and awareness building conferences in order to create national awareness and consensus building on critical national issues with active participation of reputed national leaders of Bangladesh. He is endowed with strong leadership and management capacity with in-depth knowledge on development issues and played important roles for encouraging civil society and other stakeholders in the country. He has a strong ability to mediate and negotiate with conflicting parties to minimize any national crisis. Saidur Rahman received several trainings like; ‘Making Governance Gender Responsive’ organized by Women and Women & ABC, Nepal, ‘Advanced Research Methodology Course’ organized by NAEM-BPDM, ‘Work Improvement in Small Enterprises’ jointly organized by ILO & European Union, ‘Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh’ jointly organized by ILO & Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Training Workshop on ‘Labor Migration Policy and Legal Frameworks for the Trade Unions’ jointly organized by ILO & NCCWE and attended many national & international workshops, seminars and symposia on women empowerment, youth leadership development, child labors and good governance.

Lazina Sharmin

Ms. Lazina Sharmin has more than a decade of experiences in development sector of Bangladesh. She has worked for Street Children Development project of Plan Bangladesh, successfully led project on US State Department and European Union funded Exchange and Education program of Relief International Bangladesh, enhancing community capacity to reduce vulnerability to human trafficking implemented by Relief International and Danida funded Education for Youth Empowerment (EYE) project implemented by Nari Maitree. As Sector Specialist Ms. Lazina Sharmin worked with Multipurpose Community Learning Center Program at BRAC head office. She completed her Graduation and Masters in International Relations and Post Graduate Diploma in Japanese Studies from University of Dhaka.

Md. Shamim Mondol
Joint Secretary

Md. Shamim Mondol is an Assistant Professor of the Department of English at Green University. He received his B.A (Honors) and Masters Degree in English Linguistics and Literature from the University of Dhaka. He is a devout social and cultural activist from his early years. He has been associated with a number of social, cultural and welfare-oriented organizations in local and national level. He has been relentlessly working for the underprivileged with a view to upgrading their life standard. He has contributed a lot in promoting the cause of health in his locality. His fascination is for nature and is strongly striving for contributing to preserving environment by planting trees. At present he is serving in an educational institution with success. He has written few books on learning English. He has translated some classic novels. Mr. Shamim is looking forward to be actively associated with social and cultural organizations to champion the cause of humanity through coordinated efforts.

Md. Kazi Maksudur Rahman

Md. Kazi Maksudur Rahman received his B.Sc Degree from National University. He has experiences in development sector in dealing with the youth people at the community level. He is a expert for water and sanitation program. Mr.Maksudur is a proactive cultural and social activist from his boyhood. He involves in various socio-cultural organizations. He also participated in many multi-dimensional national level workshops, seminars and symposia & received trainings.

Sk. Rumi Kudroot-E-Elahi

Sk.Rumi Kudroot-E-Elahi obtained his Masters with B.Com (Honors) in Management from National University, Bangladesh. At present he is doing business reputedly. Rumi has about 12 years' experience in development sector. He has also gathered experience through working in organizations that have provided opportunities and frequent contact with the public and have a solid track record in program, national and international network management activities.

Samina Begum
Secretary for Law

Ms. Samina Begum received her LLB (Honors) and LLM degree from Rajshahi University. She is renowned lawyer at Rajshahi Judge Court. Human rights activist Samina Begum is serving as a staff lawyer of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) at Rajshahi Unit. She is also a panel lawyer of BLAST and Bangladesh Legal Aid. Ms. Samina is a member of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA), Committee Member of Citizen Rights to Information, Steering Committee Member of Services for Children at Risk (SCAR) at Rajshahi unit and Member of Jouno Hoyrani O Nipiron Nirodh Ovijog Committee at Rajshahi University. She participated in many national level workshops, seminars and symposia & received trainings.

Nadira Begum
Secretary for Human Rights & Governance

Ms. Nadira Begum is a lawyer of Rangpur district Judge Court. She did her Graduation (Honors) and Masters in Zoology and LLB Degree from National University. Human rights and social activist Nadira Begum involves in various socio-cultural organizations. She participated in several profession related workshops, seminars & received trainings.

Dr. Md. Tariquzzaman
Secretary for Information & Technology Affairs

Dr. Md. Tariquzzaman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Communication Engineering at the Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh. He received his B.Sc.(Honors), M.Sc degree in Applied Physics, ' Electronics and Communication Engineering' (Erstwhile Electronics & Applied Physics) from the same University. He earned his PhD degree in Engineering from Chonnam National University, Republic of Korea. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Electronics & Computer Engineering, Chonnam National University, and Moko National University, Republic of Korea. Dr.Tariquzzaman attended different international conference in Thailand, China, France and USA. He visited Harvard University in 2010. During his PhD and postdoctoral fellowship in South Korea he was an active volunteer of cross-cultural awareness program (CCAP), UNESCO, Guangju organized different cultural program. He also actively participated in different social work under the social organization named 'Gwangju International Center', South Korea. Besides his main research interest in the areas of audio-visual speech processing, biometrics, computer vision and machine learning, currently he also works for e-waste management for green environment and for green world.

Md. Monzer Hossain Sarker
Secretary for Environmental Management Affairs

Md. Monzer Hossain Sarker is a lecturer of the Department of Environmental Science at Stamford University Bangladesh. He has obtained B.Sc (Honors) and MS in Environmental Science from the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh and studying for another MS degree in Water Resource Development from IWFM, BUET. Mr. Sarker has specialization in Industrial Environmental Management and Climate Change and Water Resource Management, Waste and Waste Water Management. He has several publications from national and international journals. He was a Research Fellow of National Science and Information and Communication Technology, 2008-2009, under the Ministry of Science and Information & Communication Technology. Mr. Sarker was also awarded as one of the best performers (2010-2011) in 'Promoting Cleaner Production in Textile Dyeing and Finishing Industries of Bangladesh' by SEDF managed by IFC in collaboration with DFID and NORAD.

Yasmin Ara
Research and Publications Secretary

Yasmin Ara is a research fellow in the Department of Information Science & Library Management at Dhaka University. She has completed Graduation and Masters degree in Information Science & Library Management from Rajshahi University. Yasmin has completed many course like- Developing Skills in Research Presentation in International Workshop at Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, INASP-PERii & AuthorAID, Information Technology for Information Management organized by SAARC Documentation (SDC), New Delhi, India, Certificate Course in Digital and Online Librarianship at North South University, last one is Advanced Research Methodology Course organized by NAEM-BPDM and participated several national & international workshops, conferences, seminars and symposia. Now she has been working at 'Bangladesh University of Professionals, BUP' as an Asst. Librarian. She involves devotedly in various socio-cultural organizations and performing her level best activities especially for the underprivileged people. Benchmark social worker Yasmin Ara is trying to make her dreaming society through resilience endeavor. She writes literature review and articles in different journals.

Saleh Ahmed

For the last 20 years Saleh Ahmed has been working relentlessly for the under-privileged people and for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh. He obtained his Masters degree from University of Dhaka. Saleh Ahmed is always a strong vocal for the development of landless people. At the same time he is playing a leading role in order to establish good governance in the country and ensuring human rights for all in the society.

Md. Ashraful Islam

Md. Ashraful Islam recieved his Masters in Economics from University of Dhaka. Now he is a business man & social activist, He has also gathered experiences through working in Organization that have provided opportunities and frequent contact with the public and have a solid track record in program and national and international network management.

Shahria Sadman

Shahria Sadman received her Graduation and Master's degree from National University. At present she is a teacher and women leader. Mrs. Sadman is a proactive cultural activist from her boyhood. She involves in various socio-cultural organizations. She also participated in many national level workshops, seminars and symposia & received trainings.
